MRPA Vision, Mission, and Tenets

VISION STATEMENT

Michigan Recreation and Park Association is a dynamic, member-driven coalition and the recognized leader and resource for Michigan’s parks, natural resources, and recreation professionals.

MISSION STATEMENT

To initiate and lead a cultural shift, in which residents and decision-makers recognize public parks and recreation as places and services that create vibrant communities and increase resident health.

TENETS

MRPA’s Tenets are the key components, values, beliefs, and roles of the Association.

Natural Resource Stewardship
Lead the discussion regarding the protection and preservation of open space for the common good, as well as the sustainable management and development of Michigan’s land, water, and other natural resources for accessible public use. Advocate for the environmental conservation for the benefit of the public and the preservation of resources for generations to come.\

Health and Wellness
Initiate a cultural shift, through which residents will recognize public recreation providers and parks as affordable places to be physically active and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Experiential Learning
Provide opportunities for individual growth through passive and active recreational activities.

Physical and Social Connectivity
Create connectivity by: joining together MRPA member organizations, constituents, and partners in support of parks and recreation; increasing the relevance of P&R by linking social and informational connectedness; creating opportunities for advocates, users, residents, and professionals to join together; removing barriers for participation; and generating overall awareness.

MRPA RESPONSIBILITIES
