Michigan Municipal Golf Trail

Golf in Michigan began on municipal greens. Since 1896, Michigan's public courses have provided affordable venues for both new golfers and veterans of the game. A number of the oldest and most prestigious golf operations lie on the public side of the industry. From Detroit to Grand Rapids, in our Capital City of Lansing and as far north as the pristine Keewenaw Peninsula, Michigan’s 83 municipal courses provide residents throughout the state with affordable access to the game of golf.

Municipal golf properties create jobs for residents, foster industry competition, and provide educational opportunities for all participants. Michigan’s municipal venues continue to develop new players and grow the game – from junior golf to senior leagues, our courses provide inclusive environments, affordable fees and access for all.
